In an effort to keep drunk drivers off the streets this holiday season, Friedman Law Offices in Lincoln has been providing safe rides home to anyone living in Lincoln who has had too much to much to drink during the holidays.
Their free ride service will run through the rest of 2023 and for a few hours into the new year.
“They can get hooked up with a free cab ride until New Years Day at 2:00 a.m.,” says attorney Dan Friedman. “If you are too inebriated to drive, you can get a free ride to your residence.”
Friedman Law Offices is working with zTrip to offer the taxi program. To receive a free ride home, individuals must call (402) 474-SAFE (402-474-7233), request the “Let Friedman Drive program” when calling for a cab. Use promo code “FREERIDE” in the ztrip app.
This service will only take a person to their home within the city limits of Lincoln and is only available for licensed drivers. Friedman tells KLIN News they have had positive response to the program over the years.
“The community really appreciates the effort and knows that our firm is dedicated to trying to keep Lincoln a safer community and we want to give back to a community that has given so much to us.”
The U.S. Department of Transportation reports that throughout the year more than 10,000 people die on U.S. roads due to drunk driving. According to the U.S National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, 40 percent of traffic deaths over the Christmas and New Years holidays are attributed to drunk drivers.
