A 32-year-old Lincoln man was arrested by Lincoln Police on Wednesday for possession of meth. But Lancaster County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says they uncovered a much bigger crime during their investigation of 32-year-old James Mologianes.

“When he was arrested 461 individual pieces of mail were in his vehicle with 249 victims in the county,” Houchin says.  “There was $3,000 worth of checks in the mail.”  He says the victims were from Bennet, Cheney, Denton, Roca, Martel, Raymond, Walton and Waverly.

Houchin said if anyone believes they are a victim of the theft they should contact the postal inspector at 877-876-2455.  Houchin believes there are other suspects stealing mail and packages from front porches.

He recommends people sign up for informed delivery with the post office or use a secure mailbox if you are mailing checks or any sensitive information. Houchin said Mologianes is being turned over to the postal inspector to face federal mail theft charges.
