Boy Scout Troop 8 in Lincoln is ready to renew a holiday tradition. Beginning December 26, they will be picking up live Christmas trees as part of their Scouting for Trees program. Committee Chair Brooks Rushman tells KLIN News this is the ninth year for the program and they have picked up thousands of trees over the years
He says you can schedule an appointment at no cost by clicking here . “You put in your zip code and address and we show up on the day that you pick.” He says trees should have everything taken off of them and placed on the curb by 9 a.m.
He says the trees they collect will be recycled. “Most of them go to the City drop-off sites and they get chipped up for mulch that residents can load up and use for their landscapes.” Rushman says they have collected thousands of trees over the past eight years.
Collection dates are December 26, 30 and 31 and January 1,6,7 and 13.
