To ensure road safety during the holidays, there will be an increased deputy presence in Lancaster County, targeting those who may be overindulging in “egg-nog” and getting behind the wheel.

Taking part in the nationwide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” impaired driving crackdown campaign, The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office will increase the number of deputies, in marked patrol cars, on various nights starting on Friday, December 15, 2023 and running through Saturday, December 30, 2023.

The saturation-patrol will concentrate their efforts on traffic law violations and the detection of impaired driving violations from 8:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m.

Overtime for the additional deputies working during the crackdown will be paid through a mini-grant funded by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
