Lincoln residents will have a chance to dine out for a good cause on Monday night. A spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held to benefit former LPD officer and current Lincoln Emergency Communications Center dispatcher Court Cleland.
LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says he’s been dealing with significant health issues recently. “He was taken to the ER in September after waking up unable to breathe or walk. He was hospitalized for 12 days during multiple procedures and complications. “He can no longer eat or drink via his mouth and must use a feeding tube.”
She says those complications are all connected to a diagnosis of Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy in 2003 along with a more recent diagnosis of Barrett’s Syndrome. Despite his health issues, Cleland came back to work in November as a 911 telecommunicator. Thomas says the family has been left with numerous medical expenses not covered by insurance.
The spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held December 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lincoln Firefighters Reception Hall at 241 Victory Lane. The cost is $10 per plate and kids 5 and under are free. Dinner will include spaghetti, salad, bread, a drink and dessert. There will be $1 raffle tickets for sale for nearly 30 different items for the fundraiser.
Santa will also be there from 5-7 p.m. for photos. If you plan on attending the dinner, Thomas asks that you RSVP on the Facebook event so they can get a headcount. Click here for a link
