Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands will officially combine with Big Brothers Big Sisters Lincoln beginning in 2024. ” Together, we are amplifying the positive influence of mentorship and creating a brighter future for the youth in our communities,” says BBBSM President and CEO Nichole Turgeon.
By merging, Turgeon says they will be able to support more families, improve the program’s impact for recruitment and donor engagement and raise awareness for volunteerism and financial contributions.
During 2023 the Lincoln chapter has served 141 youth in their Community-Based Mentoring program. “The Big Brothers Big Sisters Lincoln office and staff will continue to operate and be based in Lincoln, Turgeon says. “We’ll simply provide some of the back office support in Omaha.
She says the Lincoln operation is very small compared to the Omaha office. “If we can use some of the resources that we have in terms of our staff that would allow the staff in Lincoln to really focus on programming,” Turgeon says.
Both organizations say they are confident that this partnership will not only enhance individual lives but also contribute to the vitality of the Omaha and Lincoln metro area.
