The Lincoln Police Department will be joining the nationwide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” law enforcement effort from December 1 through January 1. Officers will conduct extra enforcement that focuses on impaired driving throughout Lincoln during weekend evenings.
LPD says if you are drinking during the holiday season designate a sober driver for the evening or arrange for alternative transportation in advance. If you are impaired, do not drive. Use a taxi, shared ride service or call a friend or family member.
If someone you know has been drinking, do not let them get behind the wheel. If you see an impaired driver on the road, call 911. The Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office is funding overtime pay for increased enforcement during this campaign.
