The October Nebraska Leading Economic Indicator rose 0.3% with single family home building permit numbers helping the indicator rise.  Four of the six components of the indicator were higher in October with only the dollar exchange rate and manufacturing hours indicating slight declines.

The UNL Bureau of Business Research summary shows that in the last six monthly reports, May through October, five of the months were stronger with only August with a decline.

Dr. Eric Thompson, director of the Bureau of Business Research told KLIN News the LEI suggests slow economic growth in the first half of 2024.
