Nebraska men’s basketball got tested Wednesday night and passed.

NU remained undefeated at 6-0 with an 89-79 win over Duquesne. This is the best Nebrasketball start since the 2008-09 team went 6-0 to begin their campagin.

The Dukes controlled much of the game early, leading for the first nine minutes. An NU run gave the home team a short-lived lead before the half continued in back-and-forth fashion to the break with Duquesne up by two points.

Then Nebraska put together one of the more ridiculous runs you’ll see on a basketball court. The Huskers scored on their first 18 possessions of the half, peaking with a 17 point lead. The Dukes answered with a 10-0 run of their own before NU took control with decisive possessions and plenty of made free throws to seal the game.

Speaking of free throws, Nebraska made 28-of-31 at the line. That propelled an offense that shot 49 percent from the floor, including 9-of-24 from 3. The Dukes shot 44 percent for the game with 8-of-29 3s going in. Duquesne shot just 17 free throws, making 15.

Keisei Tominaga finished with a team-high 23 points, nine of which came at the free throw line. Juwan Gary added 20 points and five rebounds off the bench.

Nebraska stays home on the tail end of the holiday weekend to host Cal State Fullerton Sunday.
