A Thanksgiving morning tradition is back for it’s 15th year. Karla Hudson with the Cooper YMCA says Turkey Trot will be moving to a new location on Thanksgiving morning. “We’ve always had it in south Lincoln and we’re kind of outgrowing our space, so we’re excited to try out a new venue and we’ll be out in the Railyard this year,” says Karla Hudson with the Cooper YMCA.
The event features the popular 1-mile Fun Run/Walk. “A lot of people in our community come out every year, but we see a lot of out-of-towners coming on for the holiday that will join us for it as well.” The cost to participate is $24. There is also a 5K Race and the entry fee is $39.
She says online registrations will be accepted through 8:00 Wednesday night. Click here to register. On site registrations will begin at 6:30 Thanksgiving morning. Hudson says money raised from the event supports their Annual Strong Kids Campaign, which helps youth and families to be able to participate in YMCA programs, including youth sports. The money also helps with membership costs.
