It’s estimated that more than 48,000 people in southeast Nebraska don’t have enough to eat. The Food Bank of Lincoln is looking for help to turn hungry holidays into happy holidays. President and CEO Michaella Kumke tells KLIN News now through December 31 you can donate food and personal care items at a number of grocery stores throughout Lincoln.
“Our role is to ensure that anybody needs a meal, any day of the year, can access out services and get connected to much needed food.” Kumke says look for the blue Food Bank of Lincoln barrels at 18 different locations or donate money at the register while you check out.
Last year during the holiday season they provided 127,700 meals to people in need and that need is rising. The stores that are participating are:
A Street Market (3308 A Street)
Hy-Vee (All Lincoln locations)
Leon’s Gourmet Grocer (2200 Winthrop Road)
Open Harvest Co-op Grocery (1618 South St.)
Russ’s Market (All Lincoln locations)
Super Saver Foods (All Lincoln locations)
