Multiple South Lincoln Streets Closures Conclude, Opening to Traffic

By Chase Porter Nov 13, 2023 | 5:32 PM

Multiple south Lincoln street closures have dissolved, opening up for through traffic.

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) today announced the opening of several portions of the two-phase improvement project in the area of South 40th Street from Yankee Hill to Rokeby roads.

The openings are part of phase one of the project and are as follows:

  • The South 40th Street and Yankee Hill Road intersection
  • Yankee Hill Road to Wilderness Hills Boulevard
  • Newly constructed right turn lanes from Yankee Hill Road onto South 40th Street for north and southbound traffic.

Phase two of the project is expected to be completed in summer 2024.

“This street project will promote private sector investment into the community and improve residential access to South 40th Street by enhancing the safety and capacity of the transportation system,” said Randy Saathoff, LTU construction project manager.

The Wilderness Hills Boulevard roundabout is open for north, west, and eastbound travel. Southbound travel is only available from Yankee Hill Road to Wilderness Hills Boulevard where phase two construction continues.

Weather permitting, the contractor will work on phase two bridge and box culvert construction through the winter.
