A woman is recovering after Lincoln Police say she was assaulted and robbed while walking near 14th and Sumner Street around 11:30 Saturday morning. The 31-year-old victim then went to the U-Stop at 13th and South Street for help.
She told police she was approached by two men. “One of the men struck her with a baseball bat, once in the head and once in the leg, which knocked her to the ground,” says Captain Todd Kocian. “The other man displayed a knife and took her purse. After going through the purse, they threw it to the ground and were last seen going toward 13th Street.”
She was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and found that she was missing missing $30. The suspects were both described as white men. The first man is 5’5” to 5’8” tall, 200 pounds, heavy build, shoulder length hair, blue jeans and jacket.
The second is 6’3” tall, 220 pounds, muscular build wearing a black ski mask, t-shirt and jeans. This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Lincoln Police Department at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
