A big night for Nebraska’s Dutchman.
Rienk Mast notched his first double-double as a Husker to lead Nebraska to a 68-42 win over Florida A&M. The victory moves NU to 2-0 on the year.
Mast scored 20 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. The Groningen, Netherlands native had nine double-doubles last season at Bradley.
Nebraska scored the first five points of the game but Florida A&M answered with an 8-2 run. That effort was squashed as NU took off on a 15-2 run to push the difference to double-digits.
The lead would only grow from there, stretching to as much as 29 in the second half.
Nebraska shot 41 percent from the floor, including 10-of-28 3s. NU also had a big night with free throws, going 25-for-36 at the line.
Besides Mast, Eli Rice (16) and Brice Williams (15) also scored in double-figures.
The Huskers won the rebounding battle 55-35.
Nebraska is hosting the Cornhusker Classic next week, taking on Rider Monday and Stony Brook Wednesday.
