A Lincoln Police officer is being credited for rescuing a woman from Holmes Lake Sunday night.   Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says around 6:15 officers responded to the lake after getting calls of a woman drowning and screaming for help.

“Officers located the woman in the water, about 25-30 yards from the shore, holding onto a capsized kayak,” Thomas says.  She says Officer Pierce Krouse took off his duty gear and jumped into the water.

“He swam out to the woman and helped get her and the boat to shore,” Thomas says.  She says the woman was treated and released by medical personnel on the scene. She says Officer Krouse inhaled some water and was checked at the hospital before changing into a dry uniform and returning to work to complete his shift.

Krouse has been with Lincoln Police since last December.
