No. 1 Nebraska Sweeps Rutgers

After a five-set thriller Friday at Penn State, No. 1 Nebraska volleyball took care of business more efficiently Sunday afternoon in Piscataway.

The Huskers swept Rutgers 25-15, 20, 18. The win puts NU at 23-0 on the season, their best start since also beginning 23-0 in 2006. They are now 14-0 in Big Ten Conference play.

Nebraska hit .288 for the match and held the Scarlet Knights to .127. Both teams committed 14 attack errors but NU had the advantage in kills (52-28), digs (61-51) and blocks (8-2).

Merritt Beason eclipsed 20 kills for the second match on the weekend, notching 21 kills on .475 hitting. Ally Batenhorst was next with 11 kills while Bekka Allick and Andi Jackson each had seven.

Beason and Allick tied for the match-high in blocks with five each. Bergen Reilly dished out 43 assists.

Nebraska returns home to host Northwestern Wednesday.
