Lincoln residents are invited to come to the Sunken Gardens this Saturday for the annual “Put the “Beds to Bed” event. Public Gardens Volunteer Coordinator Zac Halley tells KLIN volunteers should bring gloves, a shovel or spade and dress in layered clothing that may get dirty, including heavy-soled shoes.
After the annual plants have been removed by staff, volunteers will add a fresh layer of compost into the beds and hand spade the soil. Holley says volunteers should be older than 13.
Lunch will be served to volunteers and while registration is not required, Halley says they would like volunteers to RSVP so they know how much food to have. You can contact Halley at ZHalley@lincoln.ne.gov.
