Members of the Lincoln Police Department will foster relationships with community youth this weekend with some help from Lincoln City Libraries.

“Badges and Books,” a partnership between both entities, invites families to come meet their neighborhood police officers, who will share how they do their jobs, what it takes to become a police officer, and how to keep safe from crime. The three events, held at different city libraries, will include a short Storytime and children will take home a free book.

The Badges and Books schedule is as follows:

  • Saturday, November 4th, 2 p.m., Walt Branch, 6701 S. 14th St.
  • Sunday, November 5th, 2 p.m., Eiseley Branch, 1530 Superior St.
  • Monday, November 6th, 6 p.m., Anderson Branch, 3635 Touzalin Ave.

“Storytimes help bring the community together, creating a sense of unity and belonging. When police officers join us for Storytime, it underscores their deep-rooted involvement in the community and their unwavering dedication to its well-being. This collaboration reinforces the importance of reading and learning for our young ones,” said Ryan Wieber, Director of Lincoln City Libraries.
