Just over three years ago Youth for Christ began the process of raising funds to construct a new Campus Life Youth Center, and Tuesday they broke ground.

Officials such as County Commissioner Matt Schulte and former state senator, current Chief Advisor to NE Attorney General, Suzanne Geist delivered remarks among other officials at the ceremony on the property at 6401 Pine Lake Rd.

Blueprints and site plans for the new Campus Life Youth Center were distributed. The youth center will consist of a gymnasium/multipurpose room, two classroom, restrooms, kitchen, and appropriate support space.

Currently, Youth for Christ’s Campus Life program operates out of a converted house. This house serves as the offices and ministry space. The space inside the current house is not accessible for teens with mobility issues and can functionally only serve 30 teens at a time. This new space will allow us to serve over 100 teens at a time in all weather.

Total cost of the project is expected to be $3.25 million. To date gifts and pledges totaling $2.29million have been made from individuals and companies including: Scheels, Anderson Auto, Cornhusker Bank, Willmar Electric, Union Bank and Trust, Bison, Acklie Foundation, Pinnacle Bank, and many more.

Campus Life teens and alumni, parents and community members are invited to join us for this exciting ground breaking.
