Lancaster County sheriff’s deputies might look a little scruffy over the next couple of months. This is “No Shave November” and deputies wishing to participate can donate $50 during November and December to grow beards.
“Civilian staff, if they do it, they get to wear casual Friday clothes everyday and female deputies get to chose to wear a non-issued stocking cap or ball cap,” says Chief Deputy Ben Houchin. Each year the money is donated to a local organization.
Last year BraveBe Child Advocacy Center was the recipient. This year the money will be given to the Villa Marie Home and School near Waverly.
