Salvation Army Helping Families in Need with ‘Turkey-a-Thon’ Friday

By Chase Porter Oct 31, 2023 | 6:00 AM

This Friday, The Salvation Army will band together with Lincoln business to provide thanksgiving dinner for local families in need.

The Salvation Army will bring back their annual Turkey-a-Thon on November 3rd. Donation booths will be set up at two local Hy-Vee Grocery Store locations, with live radio broadcasts from stations under  Broadcast House Media taking place through out the day.

Representatives from all three organizations will be present to collect Turkeys, Hams, as well as monetary donations in order to make Thanksgiving Dinner possible for Lincoln families.

Booths will be set up from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Hy-Vee Grocery Store near 40th and Old Cheney and 70th and Pioneers Boulevard.

Join KLIN and say hi to the host of LNK Today with Jack and Friends, Jack Mitchell, from 11:30-1:30 p.m. at the 70th and Pioneers Boulevard location. You will also be able to enter for a chance to win tickets to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Thursday, November 16th.

B107.3, Froggy 98, The Bone 105.3, and Red 94.5 will also be broadcasting live on location throughout the day.

“Hundreds of area families are facing food insecurity – they’re having trouble keeping the cupboards stocked as the cost of groceries rises. We want to make sure everyone has a reason to be thankful this season, and the donations collected through the annual Turkey-A-Thon truly make a difference for area families in need,” states Captain Kelsie Moreno, Commanding Officer for The Salvation Army in Lincoln.

Last year, this partnership effort raised enough to supply Thanksgiving to 520 area families. The Salvation Army expects to serve more than 600 families this Thanksgiving. Those in need of a Thanksgiving meal can sign up at The Salvation Army. Call 402-474-6263 for application dates and times.
