A 51-year-old inmate at the Nebraska State Penitentiary died Monday, October 23, 2023, at a Lincoln hospital.
Carl Christian was serving a 10 to 15 year sentence out of Douglas County for possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person. Christian’s sentence began in May of this year.
As is the case whenever an inmate dies in the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, a grand jury will conduct an investigation.
