Downtown Lincoln’s Infamous ‘Bodega’s Alley’ Closing After 27 Years

On Sunday night, a sad message was delivered to the downtown Lincoln bar community—a farewell sentiment punctuated with a red heart, echoing 27 years of clientele: “Much love.”

Bodega’s Alley announced after nearly 30 years of drink-slinging and championing everyman musicians, the “O” Street staple will take last-call and close operations at the end of October.

“Hey friends… we have some sad news to share,” the social media announcement began, “Our lease is up and and we’ll be closing our doors at the end of the month. We sincerely thank you for an amazing 27 years. It’s been an absolute pleasure to be a small part of Lincoln’s incredible music scene.”

After decades of weekly concerts, Bodega’s (affectionately abbreviated as Dega’s) cemented itself as a centerpiece in the city’s music scene.

In 27 years, the alleyway bar fostered a multi-generational base of regulars. The comment section below the announcement overpoured with memories and emotions. For patrons wanting a final round at the beloved downtown spot, the announcement concludes, “We have several great shows still planned and we hope to see you.”

Looking ahead, the next shot at 1418 “O” Street could be on someone else’s tab… The bar is currently for sale, and could very well take on new life in the next chapter of the space.
