Lincoln Police continue to investigate a rash of car thefts across the city this month.  Sergeant Chris Vollmer says between October 6-11 there were thirteen vehicles stolen, ten attempts and seventeen recoveries.

“LPD continues to work diligently investigating this rash of auto thefts and attempts. There is no centralized location. They are spread throughout the city,” Vollmer says.  He is urging Lincoln residents to take precautions to protect your property.

“If you own a Kia or Hyundai and have not gotten the anti-theft protection software update for your vehicle, please contact your dealer.”  He also has advice for every vehicle owner in the city.  “Lock your vehicle and secure valuables by moving them out of sight, do not leave weapons or spare keys in your vehicle, make sure to close your garage door and if you park outside, do so in a well-lit area.”

He also says never leave your car running unlocked and unattended as it’s warming up.  If you see any suspicious activity in your neighborhood call 402-441-6000
