Lincoln Police are searching for a man who held up the Zales Jewelry store near 61st and ‘O’ Street around 11:30 Friday morning. LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says arriving officers spoke with a 72 year old employee
“The employee described an unknown man entering the store, demanding the employee open one of the display cases. When the employee refused, the male produced a hammer and began striking the glass on two displays,” Thomas says.
The man was able to gain access to one of the cases and removing 11 pieces of jewelry, including eight diamond bracelets. “The employee confronted the male and was pushed to the floor before the man ran from the store.”
The value of the jewelry is estimated at $10,700 and the damage to the display is estimated at $3,000. The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Lincoln Police at 402-441- 6000 or remain anonymous through Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
