By Mark Vail Oct 1, 2023 | 1:37 PM

Governor Jim Pillen approved emergency regulations submitted by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) relative to the Let Them Grow Act. The emergency regulations are effective immediately (October 1, 2023).

The emergency regulations can be found here

The process to implement final regulations for LB574 will begin immediately and proceed pursuant to the Administrative Procedure Act. The anticipated date for a public hearing is Nov. 28 from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., at the Lancaster County Event Center in Lincoln.  Comments will be accepted during the hearing as well as written comments.  The proposed final regulation will be posted at least 30-days prior to the hearing.

Governor Pillen released a statement late Sunday morning saying,  “I appreciate the thorough work put in by Dr. Tesmer and his team to get the emergency regulations drafted and to me for approval on the effective date of the law. These regulations provide the guidance necessary to ensure that Nebraska kids are protected from medical treatments and surgeries that could result in irreparable harm.”
