Man Arrested After SWAT Standoff at Lincoln Home

By Chase Porter Sep 27, 2023 | 1:26 PM

Tuesday night, Lincoln Police called in the SWAT Team to assist in a standoff situation.

Around 6:15 p.m., authorities were conducting a follow-up investigation in the area of S 12th and F Street, looking for 29-year-old Treyvon McKinzie, who was wanted for fleeing from a traffic stop on September 20th, during which he allegedly discarded a bag containing a 9mm handgun. The recovered handgun was determined to have been stolen from Douglas, Nebraska, in July 2023.

Officers approached McKinzie near his residence in the area, where he then ran inside his apartment and refused to come out. A standoff ensued, with investigators calling upon SWAT team members for assistance.

SWAT members arrived and continued communicating with McKinzie. After several hours, around 9 p.m., McKinzie exited the apartment and was taken into custody without incident.

McKinzie was changed for possession of a stolen firearm and obstructing government operations, and is being held in Lancaster County jail.
