Nebraska Leading Economic Indicator Declines in August

Four of the six components of Nebraska’s Leading Economic Indicator eased in August which drove the overall index down 0.93%. Single family home building permits were slightly higher as was business expectations.  The UNL Bureau of Business Research releases this data monthly.

The indicator is designed to predict economic activity six months into the future and suggests economic growth will slow in the 1st quarter of 2024.
