Four people were hospitalized following a crash just after midnight at 27th and Vine. LPD says an officer tried to stop a speeding Nissan Frontier near 27th and Nebraska Parkway. The pickup fled the traffic stop on northbound 27th.
LPD Captain Max Hubka tells KLIN News says a pursuit was not initiated to minimize the risk of harm to the public. The pickup continued speeding northbound on 27th Street. Around 12:05 a.m. city traffic cameras observed the Frontier speed toward the intersection of 27th and Vine Streets.
Hubka says a Honda Civic was driving eastbound on Vine Street through the intersection with a green traffic signal. He says the Frontier ran the red light and collided with the car. The speeding pickup then slammed into the Kohlls Pharmacy and ejected the driver and two passengers.
The three occupants, two 19-year-old men and and 18-year-old man were all taken to a Lincoln hospital in critical but stable condition. The 20 year old woman who was driving the car
was taken to a hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. The intersection was closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation.
