A California man was arrested after a traffic stop on I-80 near the Highway 77 exit Thursday morning. Lancaster County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says a deputy stopped the cargo van for following too closely and having an obstructed license plate.
“The deputy made contact with the driver. While the deputy was talking to him, he admitted to having a marijuana vape pen in the vehicle,” Houchin says. That prompted a search of the van. “In the back of the cargo area, was ten large boxes containing 401 pounds of marijuana.”
The weed had a street value of nearly $750,000. 43-year-old Thavysack Thammavongsa was arrested and taken to the Lancaster County Jail where he was booked for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
