Lincoln, it’s residents, and Cornhusker fans across the region await in anticipation for Nebraska’s first home game.

This Saturday, set for 6 p.m. kick off, the Huskers will go head to head against the Northern Illinois Huskies. With a large flux of gameday visitors expected, Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) has issued important reminders for Lincoln residents and travelers going to see the game.

For Lincolnites driving across town for the game, “We are encouraging people to get here mid-afternoon if they can,” Shane Dostal with LTU told KLIN News, “If you’re coming from 27th street or 56th street or Waverley: come down Salt Creek roadway to Pinnacle Arena Bank area to get to the downtown parking garages. It’s a much easier, much faster way to get there than going through downtown itself.”

As for the ritualistic (and widely dreaded) search for parking on game days, Dostal offered this advice for husker fans, “On Saturdays, Park & Go does enforce the meters…but if you want to park in a meter all day, you can get on the Park & Go app and get a $10 permit to park in that metered stall for the entire day so you don’t have to continuously plug the meter.”

If you’d rather skip the hassle of driving down town and finding parking completely, Dostal says the city has just the service for you, “The city is offering the Big Red Express again this year. We’ll have pick-up locations at Northwest High School, North Star High School, Gateway Mall, and South Point Pavilion. We’ll drop you off at 12th and R Street, and we’ll pick you up at 12th and R Street. So you only have a two block walk to the stadium.”

Big Red Express advanced purchase tickets for adults is $13 round trip per person or $15 round trip day of game. Advanced purchase price tickets for children is $7 round trip per child or $10 round trip day of game.
