Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews were called to battle a house fire near 21st and ‘C’ Street around 3:00 Thursday afternoon.  Battalion Chief Jim Bopp tells KLIN News 911 received a call from a resident saying there was a fire in the kitchen from an air fryer.

“Initial units arrived and reported smoke coming out the front door.  We met with that occupant who reported everyone was out of the upstairs apartment and the downstairs apartment,” Bopp says.

Bopp says crews did a search of the home to make sure no one was inside.  They were able to get the fire out quickly. “However, there is water damage and smoke damage throughout the first floor and there’s water was leaking into the basement.”

Bopp says one resident from each apartment will have to be relocated until repairs are made.  The investigation is continuing.
