This weekend, many Huskers will be travelling to Boulder, Colorado watch Nebraska face off against the Colorado Buffalos… and AAA has some last minute advice for fans making the trek.

“We’re going to see increased traffic,” AAA Nebraska Spokesman Brian Ortner told KLIN News, “We see it on regular game days down in Lincoln from the western half of the state and the eastern part of the state all congregating in Lincoln. That means one thing: more people on the roads.”

For this reason, Ortner encourages drivers plan ahead, “That requires a little bit of extra time and planning on our part.” There may be traffic and slow downs along the way to CO. So drivers would be wise to have food and water as you travel, know the stops you plan to make along the way, and make sure your filled up on gas before you depart.

Fortunately for Husker fans, Brian Ortner said the gas-price forecast is looking favorable. He said prices have trended down  and no fluctuations are expected over the weekend, “Looking at it right now, nothing that would be drastic… Today across the state, we’re averaging 360 a gallon. We were 358 yesterday, so an increase of $0.02. We stayed pretty flat over Labor Day holiday right through that 358. A month ago, we were 370.”

“Hopefully it’s a sea of red. Right? I think we all love seeing that,” Ortner concluded, and reminded everyone to travel safe.
