Brother Of Chris Farley To Speak About Loss And Overcoming Addiction

By Tom Stanton Sep 5, 2023 | 1:39 PM

It has been 27 years since comedian and Saturday Night Live star Chris Farley died of a drug overdose at the age of 33.  On Thursday night at St. Paul United Methodist Church at 1144 ‘M’ Street Farley’s older brother Tom will share his insights on mental health and substance abuse prevention.

Tom Farley’s program is titled, Laughter, Loss and Beating Addiction.  In addition to discussing his brother’s struggles, Farley also talks about his own mental health and substance abuse difficulties.

“I started out talking about Chris’ disease.  Now, when I bring in my story, I get more of a reaction from people that want to hear that.  I package it all up.”  Farley says he uses his brother and his family as the good, the bad and the ugly.

“It’s fun and funny and sad and I don’t shy away from any of that stuff,” Farley says.  “I think people do see themselves in pits of my story.”  The free program begins at 6:30 and pre-registration is required.  Click here for a link to the registration.
