LPD and LFR are teaming up with the Nebraska Community Blood Bank on The 12 Days of Hope Blood Drive to honor fallen police investigator Mario Herrera. He was shot in the line of duty three years ago and received numerous blood transfusions during the last 12 days of his life.
Sarah Grimm is the wife of an LPD officer and came out to donate blood in Herrera’s memory Monday morning at the public safety building at 66th and Pine Lake Road. ” I like to try and donate throughout the year as much as I am allowed to. This one’s always kind of special just because of Mario.”
If you couldn’t make it out to the blood drive on Monday, there are still spots available for the blood drive on Thursday, September 7. It will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lincoln Police Department.
