Nebraska Volleyball Completes Perfect Ameritas Players Challenge with Sweep of SMU

A perfect opening weekend for Nebraska volleyball.

The Huskers (3-0) finished off the Ameritas Players Challenge with a sweep of SMU (1-2): 25-16, 23, 16. The victory saw NU use its third starting lineup in three matches.

Big Red hit just .144 but had the defense shine, holding the Mustangs to .045. Nebraska committed more attack errors (22-20) but SMU committed more service errors (13-7).

NU also tallied 11 blocks, including five in the third set. Andi Jackson led the way up front with a hand in seven while Lindsay Krause was in on five.

Harper Murray tallied a match-high 14 kills on .310 hitting. No other Husker reached double-digit kills.

Bergan Reilly passed out 29 assists for the second consecutive match.

Murray was named Most Valuable Player of the event. The rest of the All-Tournament team included two other Huskers:

Nebraska is next in action taking on Omaha Wednesday, Aug. 30. The two teams will meet after UNK and Wayne State face off at Volleyball Day in Nebraska at Memorial Stadium.
