The heat wave continues with improvement expected by the weekend. The latest National Weather Service forecast has heat indices of 102 to 110 degrees likely this afternoon with the Excessive Heat Warning in effect until 10 pm.
Dangerous heat could persist for many into Friday as well, especially across southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa. Temperatures are forecast to return to seasonal norms for the weekend with highs Saturday and Sunday in the mid 80s.
