Lincoln Police say a man was killed Thursday afternoon after his bicycle was struck by a vehicle at 84th and Market Dr.  “It was determined a 2014 Ford F150 pickup was traveling southbound on North 84th when it collided with a bicycle that was crossing 84th Street from west to the east,” says Sergeant Chris Vollmer.

He says the bicyclist, 77-year-old John Mayfield of Lincoln, was transported to a hospital where he died of his injuries.  Police say the pickup driver stayed at the scene during the investigation. Vollmer says no citations have been issued.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about the crash is asked to call LPD’s non-emergency number at (402) 441-6000 or, if you would like to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (402)475-3600.
