Lincoln firefighters found flames coming from the roof of a two story apartment building near 17th and G Street around 9:30 Tuesday night. Public Information officer MJ Lierman says a powerline going into the apartment was sparking and arcing,

Crews eventually made their way inside and Lierman says one of the ten units sustained the most damage. “They punched a small hole in the ceiling and saw the fire in the attic space”, Lierman says.  It took about 15 minutes to put the fire out.  All of the residents made it out safely before LFR crews arrived.

Lierman says The Red Cross was called to relocate the residents because the power had been shut off to the building.  Damage is estimated at $230,000.
