Ground will be broken on the Sandhills Global Youth Complex near 1st and Cornhusker Highway this Tuesday morning. The ceremony will get underway at 9:00 a.m.   Jeff Maul with Visit Lincoln says they are anxious for the start of construction.

“Having this project done by the end of 2024, but more importantly, for play in the spring of 2025 when baseball and softball and all of these great youth tournaments want to be on our surface.”  The complex will feature five fields for youth baseball and softball.  There will be two fields for Nebraska Wesleyan baseball and softball teams and a field for dedicated to Homer’s Heroes, a program for boys and girls with special needs.

Maul says the tournaments will draw people and teams from across the region and provide a huge economic boost to the community.
