A 42 year old Lincoln man was arrested after a pursuit with Nebraska State Patrol troopers in western Lancaster County.  Patrol spokesman Cody Thomas says on Tuesday afternoon they were notified by the Seward County Sheriff’s Office that a stolen vehicle was believed to be traveling eastbound toward Lincoln.

At around 4:15 p.m. a trooper spotted the Chevrolet Suburban traveling eastbound on Highway 6 near Emerald. The trooper attempted a traffic stop in Emerald, but the suspect drove through a residential yard and a fence before fleeing southbound into a cornfield.

Thomas says the Suburban lost control while crossing a driveway in the field. It came to a stop in the field and the driver got out fled on foot. An NSP K9 was able to track the suspect deeper into the field and found him hiding amongst several hay bales.  42 year old David Ruhl was then taken into custody.

Thomas says Ruhl was transported to Bryan Health West Campus for treatment. Once released from the hospital, he will be booked into the Lancaster County Jail for flight to avoid arrest, obstructing a police officer, criminal mischief and theft.  Additional charges are pending in Seward County.
