A motorcycle rider who crashed his bike in Lincoln Monday night after failing stop for a Nebraska State Patrol trooper is on the run. State Patrol spokesman Cody Thomas says just before 11:00 Monday night a trooper was patrolling near 70th and Cornhusker when he saw a motorcycle speeding.
The motorcycle rider turned into a parking lot and the trooper attempted to make a traffic stop, but the rider refused to yield. Thomas says the rider drove the motorcycle into a ditch and lost control. He then fled on foot.
The trooper did not pursue and called for additional units. Lincoln Police Officers and an LPD K9 assisted Troopers in searching the area for nearly an hour, but were unable to locate the suspect. During the search, troopers found a leather jacket that contained methamphetamine and a glass pipe.
The motorcycle was taken into evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
