New Food Ideas to Highlight State Fair

Aug 11, 2023 | 2:45 PM

There are new food options coming to the Nebraska State Fair this year.  Fair spokesman Ray Massie says hand-breaded prime fillet alligator on a stick may prove to be popular, or maybe Hatch chili corn dogs may be more to your taste.

The theme for food will be “Whatever Your Flavor”, showcasing some new ideas like fresh cut gator taters and beer battered deep-fried mushrooms, fresh roasted sweet corn,  jambalaya,  coconut shrimp and frog legs.

“When folks come to the State Fair, they want to experience the unusual,” says Keaton Irwin, Director of Sales at the Nebraska State Fair. “Sure, we’ll have all your fair favorites, like corn dogs and funnel cakes, but you’ll also have the thrill of trying something exotic, something you wouldn’t cook up at home.”

The State Fair runs August 25th through September 4th at Fonner Park in Grand Island.
