If you like basketball, the Railyard will be the place to be this weekend. The 7th annual Railyard Rims three-on-three basketball tournament will be held Friday and Saturday. The event is free and is a benefit for the Lincoln YMCA.
“We have 49 teams participating this year and that includes 16 youth division teams,” says Chris Klingenberg, senior executive director with Lincoln YMCA. He says this is the first year for the kids teams. There is also a corporate and adult division. On Friday night business sponsored teams will play from 5-9:30 p.m. “Saturday we will start the youth division around 9:00 a.m. and finish around noon,” Klingenberg says.
The competitive adult division games will be played from 1:00-8:00 p.m. on four different courts at the same time. Klingenberg says proceeds from the tournament support families who can’t afford to participate in swim lessons, soccer, basketball and other YMCA programs.
In 2022 the Lincoln YMCA provided over $650,000 in financial assistance, impacting over 6,300 individuals in the community.
