The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department believe three Lincoln teens are responsible for deliberately setting fire to a car outside a vacant home west of Lincoln last Saturday night. Lancaster County Sheriff’s Captain Tommy Trotter says Pleasant Dale and Malcolm firefighters were sent to the home around 7:15 p.m.
“There was a car on fire in the driveway of an uninhabited residence and this appears to be an intentional arson fire.” Trotter says the 1997 Ford Contour was valued at $2,400. The fire also caused about $2,000 damage to the house. That damage included drywall, furniture, windows, doors and a riding lawnmower.
On Monday investigators were able to identify three suspects, who live in a Lincoln neighborhood near the crime scene. A 16 and two 14-year-olds were cited for burglary, arson, criminal trespassing and criminal mischief.
