The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department says a man ended up in the hospital after shooting himself in the foot during a family barbeque Saturday night. It happened at a home two miles west of Crete in southwest Lancaster County according to Captain Tommy Trotter.
“One of the residents brought out a Glock pistol to show a friend,” Trotter says. “He set the pistol on the table and his friend picked it up and pulled the trigger and shot himself.” The 29 year old man was taken to the hospital in Crete to be treated.
A bone in the man’s foot was shattered by the round. “The investigation revealed it was completely accidental,” Trotter says. No citations were issued.
