Lincoln Police say a man who stole a woman’s vehicle last Thursday as she offered to give him a ride has been arrested. LPD Sergeant Chris Vollmer says the woman saw the man stumbling on a sidewalk near 15th and Garfield and stopped to offer assistance.
She gave 35 year old Christopher Svoboda to the area of 18th and D Streets. He got out and fell on the ground. The woman got out to see if he was okay and police say Svoboda got up and jumped into the car and began to drive away. She held on and eventually got into the car, which crashed into a tree.
He fled the scene and the woman was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. LPD says on Friday Svoboda was arrested without incident near 18th and D Street and taken to jail where he was booked for robbery, leaving the scene of an injury accident and willful reckless driving.
