Interim Lincoln Police Chief Ready To Move Department Forward

By Tom Stanton Jul 25, 2023 | 10:44 AM

Michon Morrow has been with the Lincoln Police Department since 1995 and most recently served as an assistant chief.  Following Friday’s abrupt resignation of Teresa Ewins, Morrow was named as the the Interim Police Chief.

She told reporters on Monday that her decision to step into the acting role was an easy one due to the leadership team that is in place. She says any future policy decisions will be made with the assistance of  the command staff.  “This isn’t an “I” world, I understand that our department that everything we do, we do as a team.   I frequently like to say that law enforcement is a team sport,” Morrow says.

One of those decisions that Morrow says will be made as a team will be whether to resume daily media briefings five days a week.  Prior to her resignation Ewins scaled them back to three times a week.

“I commit to you that we will continue conversations evaluating the decisions we’ve made and understanding the impact and we will move forward and make some decisions on any potential changes from that review.”

Morrow also says Lincoln residents are still in very good hands and they are still committed to their community policing model.
