Lincoln vape shops have been the victim of a recent rash of burglaries this year… particularly this month… and particularly via ramming a car into the building to gain entrance.
Lincoln Police Officers responded to the third one for the month of July Wednesday morning around 3:30 a.m. at Midwest Smoke Shop on 47th and O street.
Officers arrived to a silver 2020 Hyundai Elantra, driven through the front of the building. The car was recovered by police.
Police are currently trying to get in contact with the owner of the Hyundai, who lives out of the area. Police Captain Todd Kocian said they suspect the vehicle was stolen, but could not confirm. An employee got their a shortly after and reported estimated about $1,650 of products were stolen. Damage to the building was approximated at $10,000.
This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Lincoln Police Department at 402.441.6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402.475.3600.
