Lancaster County deputies are investigating a robbery of 2 checks valued over $3600 after a Raymond man witness someone driver up and get into his mailbox around 4:50 A.M. Saturday morning.
Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said the 67 year-old witness a pick up truck drive up and stop outside his mailbox at his home near Davey Road and North 14th Street.
The man cancelled both the checks through his bank. There were no cameras and he was not able to get a description of the thief. The investigation is ongoing.
The sheriffs office says if your sending checks of any amount, its a good idea to use a mailbox that locks. Houchin says the sheriffs office has been dealing with multiple cases of mailbox theft. They strongly suggest going online with the postal service and having your mail scanned. That way there is a record of what you’re supposed to get, and if it’s not there, you know something occurred.
